Our Story

The Sweetest Favor began long before it became the boutique brand it is today.

Founded in 2009 as Kandy By Kim and officially reimagined as The Sweetest Favor in 2014, the company grew from a passion project into a handcrafted boutique sweets brand rooted in creativity, celebration, and family tradition.

What started with custom wedding favors and dessert tables slowly evolved into a full collection of French-inspired artisan chocolates, gourmet sweets, boutique gifts, and seasonal treats — all created in small batches by founder Kimberly Owens.

Every item is still personally handcrafted by Kimberly in a local commercial kitchen based in Elgin, Illinois, the city that has become home to The Sweetest Favor since 2013. From packaging and recipe development to displays, seasonal collections, and market setups, every detail is created with intention and a love for beautiful presentation.

 

Known for signature favorites like small-batch gourmet puffed caramel corn and classic puppy chow with a French chocolate twist, The Sweetest Favor blends old-world inspiration with modern boutique charm.

The French inspiration behind the brand is deeply personal. Influenced by family roots and chocolate recipes passed down from her great-grandmother, Kimberly took those early traditions and transformed them into something uniquely her own while continuing the legacy of handmade sweets and meaningful gifting.

From cottage law baking beginnings to boutique mall storefronts and a fully licensed commercial kitchen, The Sweetest Favor has remained proudly self-made, small-batch, and independently built every step of the way.

Today, The Sweetest Favor is more than a sweets company. It’s a reflection of Kimberly’s lifelong love of party planning, themed gifting, French-inspired details, and creating small moments that feel special.
